Since my official stance apparently is pro-robot, pro-teenage-builders-of-robots, I feel I must point out Grant Imahara's book (that's Grant from Mythbusters): "Kickin' Bot: An Illustrated Guide to Building Combat Robots" available at most bookstores and Amazon.com. Widely considered the definitive reference on combat robot building, I recommend any teenager who considers robots cool read this book.

I also recommend "Robot Building for Beginners."
